The Royal Government of Cambodia has announced Decision on the Establishment of Commission for Combatting Online Scams.
The newly formed commission has been tasked to implement measures that prevent and suppress on online scams. It will also provide guidance, coordination, and to support relevant ministries, institutions, and law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, the commission will monitor, inspect, and evaluate the efforts of government bodies in combatting cyber fraud and cooperate with international partners to address the online crime.
The commission will work closely with the Secretariat of the National Counter-Cybercrime Committee. The committee is responsible for research, investigation, evidence collection, monitoring, and enforcement to suppress cyber fraud. It will also coordinate with national authorities, lead special intervention units, and oversee law enforcement efforts.
The National Counter-Cybercrime Committee will work through six specialized working groups including, Research and Investigation, Information Technology, Operations and Procedures, International Cooperation and Relations, Public Relations and Media, and General Affairs.
