On 22nd October 2020, the GDT of the Ministry of Economy and Finance is to inform the Housing Development Association of Cambodia (HDAC), Builder Association, and Association of Appraisers and Real Estate Agents that, after requesting to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Finance sent a request to Prime Minister Hun Sen to proposes a delay in the implementation of capital gains tax.
In respond to the request, the government has decided to postpone the implementation of the capital gains tax for another one year from January 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
This, it said, will provide taxpayers more time to gain a better grasp of how capital gains tax works and what it implies for investments.
