Press Release On Temporarily Ban Flight From Philippines From 13 August 2020 Onward

The Ministry of Health issued a press release on 11th August 2020 to inform in public that following the approval from Prime Minister Hun Sen on 11th August 2020 on the letter No. 174 dated on 10th August 2020 from the Ministry of Health, all flights from the Philippines will be temporarily banned from 13 August 2020 onward.

The Royal Government’s decision to temporarily ban the flights from Malaysia and Indonesia, which took effect since 01st August 2020, has provided a huge contribution to curb the spread of Covid-19. However, recently, the ministry has noticed that the spread of the Corona virus has dramatically increased in the Philippines resulting in the country having the most infection among ASEAN member states; thus, the passengers from Philippine also pose a critical concern to Cambodia as well. Moreover, on 08th August 2020, 13 out of 119 passengers from the Philippine found positive for Covid-19 by Paster Institution of Cambodia and National Institution of Public Health.

Therefore, the decision was made in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 for the safeness of Cambodia as a whole.
