On 07th September 2020, the General Department of Customs and Excise issued a statement on temporary border gates for the import of wine and cigarettes.
To strengthen the efficiency of the customs’ revenue collection on the commodities and contribute to the prevention of illegal smuggling, Department of Customs and Excise named temporary border gates for importing wine (more than 10% of alcoholic) and cigarettes (at 24.02 area) as follow:
- Will only legally be imported through Sihanoukville International Port, Phnom Penh International Port and Phnom Penh International Airport except the import through the duty-free shop.
- Other imports of the cigarette and wine from other border gates must have an import permit issued by the GDCE.
The ruling will take effect from 1st September 2020 until there is future notice.
