On 11th August 2020, His Excellency Hing Thoraksy, Permanent Secretary of State at the Council of Ministers wrote a letter to His Excellency Kong Sam Ol, Royal Palace Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for Organizing National and International Festival that the government has approved the cancellation of the water festival in 2020.
The government said that it will cancel a three-day of water festival that suppose to schedule on 30th October to 01st November 2020, in the purpose to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
